MY CHESS CLUB "The Philippine Chess Olympiad": The Drama Behind The Philippine Chess Olympiad

Most of the notable encounters in Chess History, Tournaments, World Championships and Olympiads have been marred by controversies or conflicts. From the time of Paul Morphy -Howard Staunton in 1858 to Bobby Fischer - Boris Spassky in 1972 to Gary Kasparov in 1986 who created the Grandmasters Association and seven years later the Professional Chess Associations finally breaking away from FIDE; just to mention a few great chess players who were involved, who are well-liked and somehow helped shaped-up the Chess World that we know today.

THE PHILIPPINE CHESS OLYMPIAD was no exception, historic as it may seem, not only because it is the first FILIPINO group to assemble the strongest Pinoy chess players in chess.com but more so because it was founded by a young lady by the name of Mary Jane Watson, a fifteen year old high school student who despite her busy schedules at school still finds some time to run the group and play chess her "love in life" as she says and whose dream is to become like her idol who is considered by many as one of the greatest chess player that ever lived, Robert James "Bobby" Fischer.

Barely two weeks after it's inception on July 4, 2010, the most controversial figure/member at that time created shock waves when he announced his intension of leaving the group without stating the cause/s. Putting a lot of questions to many members wondering what the real reason was. Appeals were posted/sent by some asking him to reconsider and to stay with the group. There were even some feelings of apprehension whether group notes and forum participations will be as enthusiastic as ever. And perhaps there maybe also others that just didn't care. But whatever each one of us felt during that time, it was evident that many of us wanted him to stay and so he did!

With this sudden turn of events, the thought that "nothing is permanent in this world" came to my mind, so i decided to make a picture video about the group so that if the time comes that i'm no longer a member of the group, i'll have something to go over with, looked at and remember... surely laughing by myself and Proudly saying that i was once part of a GREAT FILIPINO chess team @ chess.com THE PHILIPPINE CHESS OLYMPIAD.
